July started with a birthday party for Jon's team members Hilmar and Neta, as well as the return to full time employment of Lisa. Jon and Care then went to Memphis for the Transfer of Command ceremony for Colonel Zach Miller, a former Autodesk DOD Fellow assigned to Jon's team. From there we went to Lake Cumberland, in Kentucky for a memorial party for Jon's sister, Amy. While we were gone, our contractor put in a new back fence. Finally, Jon did his annual pilgrimmage to Buena Vista, CO for the High Ground conference - this year without Care.
80th Birthday Party
Mid-July we held an 80th birthday party for team members Hilmar and Neta (whose combined ages were 80). We also welcomed Lisa, who has been in graduate school in London, back to the team full time. We started in our office at One Market and continued later that evening at a ping-pong club, SPIN SF. We had a good time and the competitive juices flowed.

Lake Cumberland
After Memphis, we went to Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. Jon's family had a vacation house on White Oak Creek. Our childhood friend Will Bevis took our family (21 people) up White Oak Creek to spread our sister Amy's ashes in front of our house. It was a sad occasion but great to catch up with old friends and relatives. It was a big party - exactly as Amy would have wanted it. See the drone video for a panaorama of White Oak Creek where we spread Amy's ashes.

Blue Ash Airport
On the way back from Lake Cumberland, we went to Cincinnati to stay with Sara and Rusty prior to our flight back to San Francisco. We went over to Blue Ash, near where we used to live. The old Blue Ash Airport has been converted to a park with a cool observation tower designed by one of Jon's UC Architecture classmates.
Back Fence
While we were away, our fencing contractor completed a new back fence. The old one was deteriorating and he added a bonus, a new gate to access the open space behind our house. This completes our fence project we began in 2017.
High Ground #22
Late in July, Jon went to Buena Vista for the annual High Ground un-conference. This was the 22nd High Ground and Jon's 7th. He stayed in Buena Vista in the Surf Hotel. He took the drone to get some panoramic and group photos. Click here to see last year's High Ground.
