August was a busy month. Care and Jon went to tenns camp at Silverado mid-month and there were several team activities toward the end of the month. August just seemed to fly by.
Spreading Amy's Ashes
In early August, we hiked up to our favorite overlook on Mt. Burdell overlooking San Francisco bay and our neighborhood and spread some of Jon's sister, Amy's ashes. Amy died of gastric cancer on Memorial Day. We celebrated her life last month at Lake Cumberland and each of her siblings took some ashes to spread in a favorite place. This place is a favorite of ours and is where we also spread the ashes of our beloved Siberian Huskies - Trout, Rizbee, Asia, and Tasmania.
Rush Creek Bike Patrol
Jon is a trail watch and bike patrol volunteer for the Marin County Open Space District. On an early August evening, he did a bike patrol at the Rush Creek Preserve on the Pinhero Fire Road, the Rush Creek Fire Road, and the Bahia Trail (most trails are closed to bikers but this one was specifically built as a multi-use trail) It was pretty uneventful but captured on GoPro.
PBI Tennis Camp
In mid-August, we went to the Silverado Resort and Spa for a PBI Tennis Camp. We had 4 days of tennis and went out for a number of great meals including Morimoto in Napa.
Strategic Foresight Offsite
In mid-August, Jon's team held an offsite at ILM Letterman Center in the Presideo. It was a great place to have an offsite meeting, and we had a fabulous tour of ILM, arranged by one of our team who used to work there. We saw lots of models and production artifacts from movies throughout the years. It was fun, too.

Strategic Foresight Picnic
The day after our offsite, Jon's Strategic Foresight Team had our summer picnic at Pioneer Park in Novato. We also celebrated Randy's birthday.

Colonel Tim's Change of Command
On August 23, Jon, Hilmar, and Kerry Ann flew down to Edwards Air Force Base (KEDW) for former Autodesk Secretary of Defense Fellow, Colonel Tim Spaulding's change of command ceremony. Tim is now commander of the 412th operations group of the 412 test wing at Edwards. Tim arranged for us to land on runway 22L, the same runway that the Space Shuttle lands on. Mickey, Heike, and Neta drove down. We attended the ceremony, a lunch, and a tour of the base. This is the second Change of Command ceremony Jon attended this summer.
