Washington DC - Avon Breast Cancer Walk

May 1-5 Care joined Jon's sisters Jane and Sara for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in Washington, DC. Jon, Brothers-in-law Scott and Rusty, and nieces Megan, Emily, and Erin cheered them on and generally acted like tourists around DC.

What is more touristy than riding Segways around the Whitehouse, Washington Monument, and Lincoln Memorial?  First we must learn to operate them and then they turn us loose on the Washington streets.

Learning to operate the Segways is the toughest thing we had to do all day.

Next stop the White House for a group picture and salute from the Ohio fans.

Late afternoon, we toured Kennedy Center.

May 3 -  A walk through Embassy Row.  We missed the Capital tour but made it to the Library of Congress. We completed the day with a party hosted by Megan.

May 4 - Day One of the Avon Breast Cancer Walk

May 5 - The Finish LIne - 39 miles

Bay to Breakers

We did our annual Bay to Breakers. This year, due to Jon's knee problems we walked rather than ran. Walking let us see more of the city (it is easier to see the houses when not exerting ourselves up Hayes St. Hill, for example). Our friends who usually go with us did not go this year so we went over to Sam's in Tiburon for brunch instead.

UC President

The last morning in May, Sam and I had breakfast with the president of our alma mater - the University of Cincinnati.
