The big event in May was a week-long Backroads biking trip to Southern Utah with Jon's sisters - Jane and Sara - and their husbands - Scott and Rusty.
St. George and Snow Canyon
We met up with our group at the Advenire Hotel in St. George, Utah. After some initial introductions, we shuttled up to the town of Veyo where we met our bikes. We rode down through beautiful red rocks of Snow Canyon State Park, had a picnic on the way, and rode through the extensive network of St. George city bike paths back to our hotel.

Bryce Canyon National Park
The next day began the heart of our trip. We were supposed to start at the Cedar Breaks National Monument and ride to the town of Panguich then on to Bryce Canyon National Park. There was still too much snow for us to do the planned route so we started in a place called Duck Creek. We rode to Panguich for lunch then up Red Canyon to our hotel outside of Bryce Canyon - a total of about 70 miles of riding - some of it in the rain. The next day went into Bryce Canyon National Park and we rode down from Rainbow Point. We hiked the Queens Garden and Navajo loop and saw some spectacular scenary.

Zion National Park
After Bryce we rode back down Red Canyon to the town of Hatch. We rode into Zion National Park in a spectacularly scenic ride. We stayed at the Cable Mountain Lodge just outside the park which gave us easy access to hike the West Rim and Watchman trails. The last day we did a ride in Zion Canyon - our final ride of the trip. We drove to St. George then parted ways with our group as we caught the shuttle to Las Vegas airport and home.
