July included several bike rides as well as our annual trip to High Ground in Buena Vista, Colorado. This year we added on a trip to Telluride, Colorado.
Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Ride
In early July, Jon rode across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge in a group ride sponsored by the Marin County Bicycle Coalition. We started at the San Rafael transprtation center with a safety briefing then rode out the San Rafael bike path to Anderson Drive, then across the Sir Francis Drake 580 flyover to the bridge approach. We rode over and back. It was a fun ride with interesting views. Check out the 360 video below to get a sense of the ride and scenery. Also check out a night ride in September.

High Ground #26
The second week in July, we went to Buena Vista, Colorado for the annual High Ground un-conference. This was the 26th year High Ground has been held and the 9th Jon has attended (including one virtual one in 2020). Next year High Ground is moving to Santa Fe. It will be a differnet experience but we hope the magic of High Ground continues in its new venue.

Telluride
After High, Ground, we did a 4-hour drive through the Colorado mountains to Telluride. We stayed up in the ski village at Lumiere. There was a free gondola between the ski village and the town. We used it to go into town for dinners and just looking around. Telluride is a beautiful place although difficult to get to - it was a 6-hour drive back to Denver.
Giro Vigneti Healdsburg Bike Tour
After our Colorado trip, Jon did a 36-mile (2½ hour) ride in the Giri Vigneti Healdsburg Bike Tour. The event was sponsored by the Healdsburg Rotary Club and was very well-organized. Jon's route went through the Anderson Valley, through Geyserville and up to Cloverdale. We then went over Dutcher Creek Road into the Dry Creek Valley, down Dry Creek road then over Lambert Bridge Road to West Dry Creek - one of our favorite roads to ride on. It was nice riding throught wine country and Jon's e-bike made the distance and hills a little less daunting. The videos below were shot with a helmet-mounted GoPro 360 camera and edited with key frames to establish point of view in the GoPro Player. Final editing including titles and transitions was done in iMovie. The left video is a highlight video that depicts the entire ride into 6:43. The right video is sped up 8x to show a 46 second executive summary of the ride.
Cosanti Wind Bell
After last month's trip to Arcosanti, we purchased a Cosanti ceramic wind chime - and placed in our back yard near Jon's reading retreat.
