July began with the 4th of July holiday and a team pizza party. Since we are still locked down, it was pretty quiet. At the end of the month, we did do a picnic at the Gustafson winery in Sonoma.
Team Pizza Party
Our team held a socially distant pizza party at Hilmar's house in Pt. Reyes Station. We tested out Hilmar's new pizza oven and also celebrated his upcoming birthday. This is only the second time we have seen each other in person since the lockdown. Nada, our new intern, came as did Hilmar's wife, Naoko, and daughter, Yuki.
Old Quarry Trail Hike
Autodesk took July 24 off as a company holiday so Jon hiked up the Old Quarry Trail and down the Burdell Mountain Fire Road. It has been a long time since he hiked the Old Quarry Trail and usually hikes down - so it was a treat hiking up.
Gustafson Winery Picnic
We took a day off on Monday, July 27, and went up to the Gustafson Winery above Lake Sonoma for a picnic. It was a short but good getaway from our lockdown life and we had a nice talk with the winemaker, Emmett, who we have known for several years.
