June ended our Dalmation Coast Cruise with a stop in Rome and Zürich before our return flight to the U.S.
Rome
We docked in Civitavecchia, Rome's port, and took an hour drive into the city. We had an overview tour of the main sights before checking into our hotels. We stayed in Rome for three days and saw the Colosseum, Vatican, Tivoli Fountain, Pantheon, and Spanish steps as well as lots of streets, squares, and restaurants. It was crowded and hot but we really enjoyed our time in Rome. Here is Care's Rizbee on the Road blog for Rome
Zürich
After Rome, we returned to Zürich for our flight home to the U.S. We had a free afternoon, so we took a lake cruise down to the Chinese garden and a Le Corbusier Pavilion. After a nice dinner, we spent the night at our hotel and boarded our flight home.
Mt. Tamelpias Hike
In late June, Jon did one of his favorite Mt. Tamelpias hikes - a loop from Rock Springs down the Old Mine Trail, along the Matt Davis and Bolinas Ridge trails and back to Rock Springs via the Cataract trail. What is special about this hike is the fabulous views of San Francisco, the bay, the ocean, Stinson Beach and Bolinas. The hike also goes through a varety of ecosystems from dense woods to mountain meadows.
