May started off with Jon's last day of employment, then retirement began with a vengeance...
Mickey and Heike Visit
On Sunday, May 2, we got a surprise visit from Mickey and Heike. Mick is recovering from some serious medical issues and was thin but in good spirits. We had some champagne from Jon's retirement party and gave Mick some cake to help him put on the pounds.
Day One
When Jon worked in Autodesk's San Rafael office, he frequently commuted the "back way" through West Marin and over Lucas Valley Road. He passed the Big Rock trailhead early mornings. It was beautiful. He vowed that when he retired, he would come out and hike the Big Rock trail on an early morning. So on his first day of retirement, he did.
Neighborhood 360 Videos
A combination of a new e-bike and GoPro360 Max camera led Jon to shoot some 360 videos around the neighborhood. The first is a ride from the very top of our neighborhood - Nunes Drive, down WoodHollow to Redwood Blvd.
The next two are of our street, Butterfield Drive
The final one is uphill on Woodhollow to Fieldstone, to Butterfield Drive. On any bike but the e-bike, the uphill is a cardio workout.
Dry Creek Ride
In early May, we went up to the Dry Creek Valley to pick up our annual allotment of Rafanelli wine. We combined it with one of our favorite bike rides - along West Dry Creek Road.
Tail 360 Video
Flew around western Sonoma county with a Max 360 GoPro attached to my tail. Check out the 360 views of takeoff and landing.
