November 2018

November was dominated by Autodesk University in Las Vegas, including a field trip to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Training Center.

Autodesk University

Jon and his team were in Las Vegas for Autodesk University (AU), our annual user conferene. Our team had a lot to do with AU. Here are Radha, Jesse, and Darren in the AU theater telling stories about storytelling. We went to The Void, Star Wars - Secrets of the Empire VR experience as a teambuilding exercise. Here is my criminal file.

United Brotherhood of Carpenters Training Center

While in Las Vegas, Jon and Randy took a field trip the the United Brotherhood of Carpenters International Training Center. It was a very impressive facility where the carpenter's union trains its members in all kinds of technology and product installation. They are trying to keep their members relevant -- and they teach Autodesk software.

Side Street Cafe

The Friday after Thanksgiving, we went to Pt. Reyes Station to try a new restaurant, the Side Street Cafe. It was a rainy day, but the food and wine were good. Nice cozy place.

Sacramento

The week after Thanksgiving, I went to Sacramento for the Meeting of the Minds summit conference on urban issues. Part of the conference was a workship where we toured the city and visited the Sacramento Kings new arena -- Golden One Center, the old rail yards - with shops The Locomotive Works - owned by California State Parks which were where railroads were maintained at the terminus of the Transcontinental Railroad, and Oldtown Sacramento.

SpaceX

I went to SpaceX in LA with the DOD Fellows. It was pretty cool watching rockets being built in LA. SpaceX did not allow us to take any pictures of the factory or the rockets, but we did take a picture of the DOD Fellows and Gwen Shotwell, the SpaceX COO.
